We Stand with Manchester

The tragic events in Manchester on Monday are a stark reminder of the threats we face from acts of terror. It’s difficult to comprehend why young people, simply out for an evening’s entertainment, should be targeted in this way or to understand what the perpetrators of such horrific acts hope to gain from their actions. Clearly there are those who seek to divide communities and create unrest, but we see every day the way in which people in this great city, and in great cities across the country like Manchester, work together for the common good. We have a duty to make sure that these evil acts do not turn communities against each other and that we continue to promote and support tolerance and understanding in all that we do.

Our thoughts are with the victims and their families and we offer our support to all the people of Manchester during this difficult time.

“Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

Martin Luther King, Jr.
