Movema and Cheshire Dance are delighted to launch Wildfire Rising, a paid development programme for dance artists.
Dance organisation Movema has been developing, consulting and curating platforms with artists, dance organisations and funders in the northwest over the past 3 years, to really understand the barriers for underrepresented dance artists.
Now, thanks to Arts Council England and a collaboration with Cheshire Dance and other partners, Wildfire Rising is born.
This artist programme has been designed to remove the barriers of inequality, by investing in and supporting artists from the African, South Asian, East Asian and South East Asian Diasporas. Cheshire Dance and Movema are looking for three North West-based dance artists who will each take part in paid, bespoke professional development and reflection. Dancers will receive £3.5k, which includes a £1.5k commission, as well as support to develop their dance work.
