Sahir House HIV Awareness & Stigma Reduction Online Update with Positive Speaker

Training Date: 07 July 2022

Hosted by Sahir House | Thursday 7 July 2022 | 10 – 11:30 am | Online via Zoom

Do you need a refresh on your basic understanding of HIV, understanding risks and prevention interventions and where to go for a test?

Want to learn more from those who live with HIV?

This session is the perfect opportunity to build confidence when talking about HIV to service users, the public etc.

This can be an ideal session for those needing a refresh, if you have new staff and placement students, colleagues supporting service users who live with HIV, those worried about HIV, or those affected or bereaved by HIV.

HIV has seen great advances in medication having a hopeful impact on people living with the virus. We have seen how the lifesaving medication can enable people with HIV to live a long life, reducing complex health issues and making real inroads to reducing the number of new infections. However, the stigma is still creating barriers to learning about HIV, engaging with sexual health services and seeking support if diagnosed with HIV.

Update hosted by Serena Cavanagh and Cath Turner, Sahir House Stigma Reduction Team with a special guest speaker from their Positive Speaker Team.
